इस कहानी का नाम है ’परिछय’। यह कहानी एक चौकीदार की है जो मूलतः बहुत दीवाना होता है तथा लोगों पर भरोसा करता है। लोग उसे कहानियों का दरबार के रूप में समझते हैं।

The name of this story is ‘Parichay’. This story is about a watchman who is originally a crazy person and trusts people. People consider him as a court of stories.

मैंने उस चौकीदार का काफी परिचय लिया था। उसे हमेशा अपने कई कहानियां सुनाने थे। एक दिन मैंने उससे पूछा कि उन्होंने कभी कोई गलत फैसला कर दिया है तो उसने कहा कि हमेशा लोगों पर भरोसा करके वह कभी गलत फैसला नहीं करता है।
एक दिन चौकीदार ने एक बच्चे को गावं में एक अन्य बच्चे के साथ खेलता देखा था। जब समय हुआ तो उस बच्चे का बाप उसे लाने के लिए आया था। लेकिन बच्चा आंखों में आंसू लेकर बेचारा उसे अपने साथ नहीं जा ना चाहता था।
चौकीदार ने उसे देखते हुए पूछा कि क्या हुआ है। बच्चा ने दो रुपये की उसकी तलाश करने से इंकार कर दिया था। उसने बताया कि वह उसके एक मित्र को दो रुपये उधार देने में असफल रह गया है जहां तक कि उसके पास एक भी रुपया नहीं है।
चौकीदार ने सभी लोगों को बुलाया तथा उनसे दो रुपये का संकलन करवाया। उस बच्चे पर भरोसा करने वालों के संगठन ने इस संकलन में हिस्सेदारी ली और उन्होंने उस बच्चे को दो रुपये देकर उसे खुश किया। बच्चा अब अपने दोस्त के पास ठीक समय पर दो रुपये लौटा सकता था तथा सभी को प्रेरित कर सभी भाईचारे की भावना को बढ़ावा देते हुए चौकीदार ने कहा कि उन्होंने अब तक जितने बड़े खंडहरों के साथ काम किया है उसमें से सबसे महत्त्वपूर्ण लोग वे थे जो कभी नहीं भूलते थे कि वे एक दूसरे के साथ कौन सा प्रत्येक विवाद सेवा कोटि के लिए सुलझा सकते हैं।

I had taken considerable introduction of that watchman. He always had to tell his many stories. One day, I asked him if he ever made a wrong decision, he said that he never made a wrong decision by relying on people.
One day, the watchman had seen a child playing with another child in the village. When the time came, the father of that child came to pick him up. But the child did not want to go with his poor father, with tears in his eyes.
The child had refused to search for his two rupees. He said that he had failed to lend two rupees to a friend of his, until he did not have a single rupee left.
The watchman called all the people and arranged the collection of two rupees from them. The organization of those who believe in that child participated in this collection and by giving two rupees to that child, they made him happy. Now the child could return two rupees to his friend on time and with all the moral teachings and inspiration, the watchman said that the most important people he had worked with are those who never forget that they can resolve any dispute with each other for a service fee.
